Fun events at JCA

Music Makers
T
he Music Makers have been making great progress under the leadership of Mrs McKee.  They meet every second Wednesday and the Intermediate group is practicing the song they have learnt for the Term 2 concert.  The Foundation phase is having a lot of fun and are keeping Mrs McKee busy!   There were many learners who were disappointed in not being able to participate in the Music Makers, but unfortunately our groups are limited to the number of instruments we have.

Cross country
Many learners do however participate in cross country and have done some impressive training throughout the term. We look forward to the cross country competition being held on 5 March where they will compete against each other.  The tuckshop will be open and the parents of participants are welcome to come and support the runners .

Spur Night
Our popular Spur Night will take place on 14 March (Thursday) and we hope many families and staff members will attend.   Last year’s event was a great success and the proceeds went  towards the School Hall Project. The evening is not only a fundraiser but a time for meeting new people and having fun fellowship together.   Some of our Grade 7s will assist the waiters and learn some  important life skills at the same time.

School fees
Please be reminded that school fees are due before the start of Term 2 (by 1 April) and that your child will not be permitted to start the term if there are fees outstanding. This includes short payments and/or late charges. If you are in arrears, please take the necessary action.

The school office will be closed during the holidays but the Admin office will remain open for payments and enquiries.

After-care
The daily after-care at JCA is run by our teaching staff and we thank them for being willing to give up their time to look after the learners for an hour after school or until extra-curricular activities end (at 15:30).  We are however experiencing problems with the transport, which arrives late or not at all.

Because the safety of our learners is paramount the teachers have to wait until the transport arrives – sometimes only at 17:30!  As most of our teachers travel long distances to and from school this is impacting their personal time.   Please advise the driver who collects your child/children that 15:30 is the latest they can be fetched, whether they come out of school at 14:30 or participate in extra-curricular activities.

We also encounter problems when trying to contact parents to advise that the driver has not arrived – their phones are off or remain unanswered.  We need to know that we have a direct line to all parents in case of an emergency. Please ensure that your current contact numbers are written in your child’s diary and the phone number of the driver would also be helpful. We appreciate your co-operation.

Parent Teacher Conferences
We thank all the parents who have taken the time to attend the parent teacher conferences.  These have been most successful and the  teachers are pleased to have made contact with you.
