Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.”   -Psalm 145:2-3 (ESV)

A Unique Term 2
Term 2 is drawing to an end, and what a unique one it has been! The term started on 20 April 2020 via our Remote Learning platform which was a new adventure to all of us. Term 2 continued when learners made their way back to the classrooms during the month of June. Term 2 will end on 7 August 2020, after 16 weeks of teaching, which means it will be the longest term we have ever experienced. One of the hidden blessings of “the new normal” during this term, is the smaller classroom sizes which created an opportunity for learners to catch up with work at their own pace. We have noticed how many learners have gained confidence in their school work during this time. We are so proud of our learners for their perseverance and courage! We thank the Lord for leading and sustaining us throughout this journey.

Hot Chocolate Friday!
A cup of steaming hot chocolate makes a frigid winter’s morning much better. Thank you to Mrs.Viljoen and her team for handing out free hot chocolate to learners on Friday 17 July 2020.

Term 2 Progress Reports
Learners and Teachers are hard at work, wrapping up Term 2 assessments. God willing, Progress Reports for Term 2 will be ready during the last week of term.  Due to unforeseen circumstances during the Covid19 pandemic, not all the planned annual assessments were taken and the CAPS curriculum has been revised and trimmed by the Department of Education. However, JCA considers it valuable to hand out Progress Reports to provide parents with some feedback on how their children are doing.

Absenteeism without Reason
Learners who have been absent throughout the past term, and whose parents did not make a formal submission to the JCA Office for them to study from home during term 2, or who have not yet submitted a supporting medical certificate, will be marked as  absent for the entire term. It is a great concern that these learners have lost nearly 16 weeks of academic time and will have no marks on their Term 2 Progress Reports.

Schools Remain Open
Unions are calling for schools to be closed until after the peak of the Covid19 pandemic. The Minister of Education is consulting with stakeholders and the Cabinet and an announcement on whether schools will close or remain open is expected later this week. The Department of Education instructed that schools remain open until further notice. JCA will communicate with Parents in due time should we need to revert back to remote learning at some point in time. In the meantime, we assure Parents that we are doing our best to make the JCA as safe as possible.

Re-registrations 2021
Registration for 2021 is open. Re-registration forms were sent home with learners at the end of June.  Early bird discount applies until end of July 2020! Please use the following payment reference:   REG + unique account number when making the payment, otherwise the finance department will not know to allocate the money as registration. Re-registration fees must be accompanied by the re-registration forms.

Finance
Please be reminded that according to JCA policy, all fees must be current and no child will be allowed to begin any new term (starting 12 August 2020) if the outstanding amounts are not paid in full. This also applies to Parents who have signed financial agreements with the Finance Department but have not kept to the agreed terms.

No Birthday Packs during Covid19
Unfortunately due to Covid19 regulations, the school is not able to hand out cake or party packs in the classrooms during this time. We will still celebrate with your child and thank the Lord for their lives!

Deliveries
Due to Covid19 regulations,  all deliveries need to be limited. It is a risk to drop off  any stationery, books, lunch boxes, etc.  Make sure your child packs their belongings (especially lunch boxes and water bottles) before coming to school.

Dates to remember:
1 August:   August fees due
7 August:   End of Term 2
12 August: Term 3 starts
