A New Face– MISS Meiring

No, not Mrs Meiring, you already know her! Miss Meiring has joined us in the school office to fill the gap left when Miss Rumley went back into the classroom. She will be the first face you see when you walk into the JCA office and voice you mostly hear answering the phone. You may remember seeing her around last year when she filled in for a few weeks while Mr Mahlangu was away and she was here for the fun run. Please bear with her as she learns your names and your children’s names in addition to learning the ins and outs of the school office. Welcome, Miss Meiring, we are excited to have you join our JCA community!

Family Time

It’s hard to believe another month of school has already passed. Thank you for your support over these days of parent/teacher conferences and during the first month of school.

We are making an effort, with the help of the parent volunteer committee, to provide many family centered activities throughout the school year. The first was a movie night that just happened on 2 March at 6pm! Other events are upcoming like a Spur night on 20 March, and a family game night in April. Our desire is to provide activities that you and your children can enjoy together! Please keep watch in updates for all the details regarding these family-centred activities!

PE Kits and Shirt Orders

Many of you have been asking regarding the most recent shirt orders. We apologize for the delay, but it seems that almost all the components of the PE kits and uniform shirts were backordered. The company is looking for alternative sources and will have our ordered filled as soon as possible!

Extra Curricular Activities

Extra Curricular activities will begin next week! You will find sign up sheets in this packet. Please return asap. However, before you return, please assure that the child’s transport is willing to wait until 3:30 to fetch them, and will also be prompt at 3:30. If a child is repeatedly pulled from club for transport issues, he or she will be removed from club.

For the remainder of this term students will be able to be in cross country running. There will also be a dancing club for grade R learners only. Finally, Miss Sanfilippo will be starting a marimba choir, but it will be by her invitation only.

Sports Day

Some of you are experienced JCA parents and you know what “Sports Day” is, but for those of you that do not, here is a brief description of what you need to know. We have a group of university athletes coming to Bethesda from the United States. These athletes participate in a variety of sports representing their university and are excited to host a day of participating in a variety of sports activities for our school children. Your children will come to school for the normal school hours on the day, but should come dress in clothes they are comfortable playing sports in (their PE kits would be a great option for the day). The learners will rotate to different stations to participate in different sports related activities throughout the day.
